I hurt all over..

On my second day in the hospital I began to realize this wasn’t a dreamscape molded by Larium. It’s hard to tell the difference sometimes. The story they tell me, is I was riding on one of Xelas rougher streets and had a tumble (no cars involved). I was unconscious when they found me and I went into seizures during the ambulance ride. Xrays at the hospital revealed a broken clavicle that I need to keep in a sling so it mends correctly. They took head xrays to look for bloodclots. They gave me three kinds of drugs to take.  All my friends came to visit me. First was my teacher Mayra, who was very concerned, then Doña Gloria and her entourage, there were others too, but I don’t remember the last few days well. After three days of observation, they released me today. Marvin (the school director) and I went and got my bicycle from impound. The bike looked unscathed, however the speedo and GPS are missing. I guess I  will buy new one’s with the money I saved (free) on the hospital stay <g>.
I’m thinking it might a good idea to fly home and give my shoulder a chance to heal, maybe get a second opinion. I can leave my bike with Doña Gloria, return in a few months and continue on my way..

  1. Wow Mark! Glad you’re gonna be okay and the only thing you lost was the speedo and GPS. I hope you heal up fast.

  2. DAD, I JUST SENT YOU AN EMAIL. I’M PRAYING FOR A QUICK RECOVERY. I LOVE YOU!

  3. Sorry to hear of you tumble. I hope you are ok and will relay to the guys here in plastic land. Prays go out for a speedy recovery and lets hope nothing else is broken. Some things can be replaced as you know but you are not. Good thought for second look and see. Hope to touch base when you decide to return.

  6. Dad, on behalf of everyone who frequents your website.. you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. This is by no means the end of it, though. You will be back in no time riding your bike and being the celebrity of Latin America again. :-)

Hi again, Mark, During prayer request time @ church tonight I mentioned your trip and accident and our pastor said, “Sounds like he’s used up a lot of grace.” Needless to say, many people in SC are praying for your safe trip home. Love, Aunt Janet

  9. Zowie! You got some exciting stuff to write about this week. Your shoulder looks ugly in the posted picture. Probably a month or two before you can do any more bike riding. Were you wearing your headgear? You should write some more about the hospital staff. It seems they took pretty good care of you, and for free. That’s somewhat surprising to me. Make another post on what you decide to do. And good luck. Use your skype.

  10. Rev Bruce Howes Says:

May the Lord grant you quick recovery. We thank God for the care you received! Blessings!
